After reading this handy dandy little article on the Frisky, I decided it was time for a little HM4H public service announcement: Please don’t stick hammerheads up your butt.
Actually, there are a lot of items you shouldn’t be sticking where the sun doesn’t shine (in spite of the popularity of the expression.) Cups and broom handles are pretty popular on the Rectal Foreign Bodies list, but bottles are the most common foreign body removed – from the body. Earlier this month I ran a workshop on anal play for a local toy shop. Since the class turned out so great and people had so many great questions, I decided to share my handout with our HM4Her readers to make sure that you guys are getting the best of the best when it comes to sex education. There was so much info that I had to break it into two parts (check out Intro to Anal Play, Part 1)! What what in the butt, let’s get to it!
In the first section I covered all the basics of why people have anal sex, the fears surrounding anal play, the expectations involved with anal sex and all of the basic anatomy of the butt. Now we get to talk about safety, prep, techniques and toys – all the super sexy good stuff!
Safety Basics
- Anal sex should not hurt. If it hurts, you are doing something wrong.
- Lube, Lube Lube, Lube, Lube! When it comes to butts, you can never use enough lube! Your ass does not self lubricate (like a vagina) so lube is super, extra important. For anal sex, thicker lubes are great. Your best bet is either silicone or water-based lube (as oil-based lubes can weaken condoms, if you are using them), but remember that you cannot use silicone lube with silicone toys. Back before Anal Queen Tristan Taormino started her Expert Guide series, she was just a sex educator with an instructional porn dream. Intent on making her dream a reality, she partnered up with director Ernest Greene and John “Buttman” Stagliano to create this fun and informative porn star gonzo butt sex flick. Ok, so I don’t know that for fact really, but I do know this looks to be one of Taormino’s first movies, which makes it all the more thrilling for me.
Before watching this movie, I had only seen Tristan Taormino as the sexy but fully clothed sex educator in her films. She’d guide us though all the good stuff, but never join in herself (to my repeated disappointment.) In this Ultimate Guide, Tristan gets down and dirty, still staying clothed, but licking pussy and getting her fingers nice and lubed up for a little anal adventure. Finally! I mean, I love watching Tristan in anything she does, but getting a chance to see her digits deep in a hot girl’s ass is all the more exciting.
[Edit: The first time I watched this to review, I'll admit that I didn't get to the last scene before I wrote it up. Luckily a reader pointed out that I missed the best scene of the movie, where Tristan Toarmino gets naked and seriously fucked in a massive orgy. It's the pièce de résistance and I can't believe I passed it by the first time around. Tristan takes it like a champ in almost every hole she's got (no urethra or nose fucking, but you get the point) and lets herself has as much fun as she does with the education component. I love that her body is real and sexy and has no traces of being porno-fied. She is a teacher through and through, but it's nice to see her having a little fun in front of the camera. Along with giving me more Tristan to swoon over, this Ultimate Guide offered me lots of great information and clear, easy instructions. I really liked that Taormino started at the beginning with anatomy and stereotypes, then moved on to technique and more advanced stuff. It was really thorough and totally hot. Plus, I never get tired of seeing Nina Hartley with her ass in the air. She is pretty much the ultimate bonus to this already awesome video.
This movie has a different vibe than Taormino’s other instructional flicks. It’s a little pornier than the others and a bit less sensual. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. I appreciated seeing Tristan educate in a different kind of setting and maybe even give the porn stars a few tips of the trade. Stagliano was kind of annoying to me and I wasn’t really into all his comments, but he didn’t interrupt too often, so I just let it go. All in all, the movie was fun, engaging and full of lots of useful and exciting information.

Putting glass up your ass is generally considered a no-no. Aside from being extremely dangerous and harmful to all your delicate tissues, I can imagine it would hurt like a bitch. First off, glass is super smooth and only takes the smallest drop of lube to get it nice and slippery (though I suggest using more than just a drop when you are hitting the back door), and it offers little to no friction resistance as it slides into your body. Two of my favorite aspects of this big guy are its weight and size. Measuring in at 4½ inches long and 1½ inches at its widest point, I might not say the Rook E is for rookies exactly, but if you are an experienced anal adventurer, this plug should work out just fine. Plus it starts out small and gets bigger, so it’s a fun toy to test out girth with.
