The Not So Great G-Spot Debate

Well the big rush of orgiastic festivities is done and a new year has dawned, I was still nursing my headache from the weekend when I saw this headline over at Jezebel: “Scientists Say “G-Spot” Doesn’t Actually Exist!” Good gods, talk about ruining the New Year let alone my Monday with a single sentence.

Being ever investigative (also known as being more curious than I am I wise) I went right off to the Times Online to investigate the testing methods that lead to this conclusion. They studied 1,800 women, good so far, all twins who should share a general physical structure so that if one has a G-Spot the other should as well, yup good there too – these women then filled out questionnaires, wait what? So to identify if an internal physical structure does or does not exist it’s definitive to just ask highly subjective people with different sexual experiences about it? So I can just say I don’t have an appendix? Cause I’ve never felt it it certainly doesn’t exist, right?

Sorry, but no, go back and give each of those 1,800 women extensive examinations with deep scanning technology and then get back to us. Ok? Thanks. Till then check out some of our awesome instructional videoson how to find and stimulate your own G-Spot.

Talula

Back in April when we went to Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs, we met the awesome folks of Tulip Toy Gallery who had an impressive, silicone-heavy spread of sex toys out on their table for all to check out. Aside with being perfectly smitten with the staff, we fell in love with their line of Vamp Silicone toys. Vamp merges art, function and pleasure to create carefully considered silicone designs that I would be as excited to display on my shelf as I would be to strap into a harness and get goin’.

Fast forward through a few months of back and forth emails, those fabulous folks at Tulip sent us one of their very favorite Vamp toys to review – The Talula. Made exclusively for Tulip, Vamp’s Talula comes in three sizes, small (L 5″, W 1″), medium (L 6″, W 1.5″), and large (L 7″, W 2″), and is the only anatomically correct dildo designed specifically for harness use! By ‘anatomically correct,’ I believe they are referring to the upward angle of the dildo, which, in fact, definitely resembles the angle of a flesh and blood penis. While the curve may look severe at first, don’t worry, the silicone is flexible enough to maneuver the dick around to get the job done nicely. Read the rest of this entry »

Fun Factory’s Stranger II

Reviewing sex toys is a great way to explore new frontiers and expand your sexual boundaries, something I love doing, so I went in an unusual direction for myself and picked the Stranger II by Fun Factory for this particular review. I’m not usually a great fan of the insertable type toys, but I reason that’s simply because I haven’t found just the right one to rock my world yet and unlike with dates (and certain vegetables), I’ll try anything once. Actually when it comes to sex toys, I insist on trying it way more than once, because I reason I didn’t like my favorite vibe the first time out of the box either.

Speaking of boxes, when this one came in the mail I was in for a bit of a shock. It was right about then that I started to suspect I’d bitten off more than I could chew. Because boxed up, the Stranger II was almost as long as my forearm! Out of the box and still nearly as long as my arm, the Stranger II is supposedly 6.75 inches long which is a little longer than your average guy is likely to be endowed. Luckily my Stranger also has a gently tapered head and a soft pliable silicone body, so I wasn’t running for cover just yet; even if my mind was screaming ‘are you kidding me, it’s 9 inches if it’s anything!’

The Stranger, like most vibrators is pretty simple to operate, just turn the dial at the base to increase or decrease the vibrations as well as turn the device off and on. The only complex part of the Stranger’s design is where to put the batteries. I actually had to get the instructional booklet out for that one. Turns out that in order to put batteries in the Stranger, you first have to squeeze either side of the base to get to the compartment, not unlike some safety caps on pill bottles. Now’s a good time to mention that I hate safety caps – if you have any kind of problems with your hands, they are absolutely impossible to get off.

Ophoria Beyond #3

Since I’m a big fan of g-spot toys, I couldn’t pass up the chance to review this dildo from Ophoria, a company that is new to me, but seems to be everywhere lately. I don’t know a lot about them, but appreciate the fact that they’ve created an intriguing line made from 100% pure silicone.

Ophoria’s Beyond #3 is a 9 inch silicone toy with a serious g-spot curve. I was a little surprised how rigid it is, especially compared to some of my other toys, but have to say that this works to its advantage. While 9 inches sounds like a fairly big toy, the diameter is pretty average at 1.75 inches and it’s definitely not a BIG toy. Of course you’ll want to lube up, and since it’s made from silicone, you should never use a silicone lube. It’s also great for sharing, since pure silicone toys can be sterilized by boiling or the other usual methods.

When it comes to getting down and dirty, I have to say I was really impressed with this toy. It’s hard not to compare it to Fun Factory’s Curve, and I have to say, I think the Beyond #3 is better. Although a lot of people don’t like the Curve, I think it’s a pretty good toy. However, I can see a couple of flaws in it that don’t exist in this Ophoria dildo. It does a great job of g-spot stim, fills me up and I love the way the raised rings on the shaft feel. I also love the handle of this toy, which ensures you’ll stay in control no matter how slippery things get!

Ophoria also claims that this is a great toy for anal play, but it’s a little out of my league, so I can’t vouch for that myself. Just something to keep in mind for those of you who went there first!

Overall, I can recommend this toy to anyone who’s looking for a quality g-spot toy. I’m definitely going to keep Ophoria in mind when it comes time to add another sex toy to my collection!

Paradise Curve

Instead of a standard review, I decided to go with a pro/con list to show you just where the fabulous Paradise Curve falls on the spectrum of awesomeness.

Pros:

- The Paradise Curve is all about the nubs. That is, the three strategically placed nubs that offer up the most simulating vibrational nubbiness I’ve ever experienced.

- Made of hard silicone, this vibe is designed to go deep into your pussy and reach your G-Spot with ease and still be long enough to reach comfortably.

- It’s got a perfectly positioned bullet – in the top of the toy (the insertable end) instead of the base, which means that gives just right the amount of power directly on your G-Spot.

-The stiff nubs stay put exactly where you need them.

-The controller has four vibrating levels (gotta love some options, though being a jackhammer type of girl, I totally discarded the first three. For me, level one is pointless).

- It’s waterprooof!  Enough said!

- You can use this as an external clit stimulator as well. This is where I get the best of both worlds, rub the Lucid Dream Vibrator on the clit, get all lubed up from personal juices and then slip it on into the hot spot.

- The top is a bit thicker than the bottom so that first penetrating push is done with pleasure full pain. Not too big at all, just enough to give you that, clinch your stomach it’s coming in, feeling!

- Low noise factor – just a hum. Not bad at all. In fact, would not be able to hear it if it’s on the inside of you.

- It requires 2AA batteries which are easily installed.

Cons:

- It has a wire. It’s really not that big of a deal, but if it were wireless, it would be all that and a bag of chips.

Added Bonus:

There are nubs on the back-top side where the wire leads into, and I’ve not quite figured out what those nubs are for, other than for grip??? It makes my toy look like some type of a dinosaur with spikes – and it’s green to boot.

From this list it’s clear that I totally loved the Paradise Curve.  Most toys I buy are in the heat of the moment they get used once and they go into my box o’plenty, but this sweetie has performed for me already three times in the past week. That’s got to say something for its pleasure! Five star in my star book!

Take your own trip to paradise with the Paradise Curve!

Ella

I was a little surprised the first time I saw the Ella, a relatively new product from luxury company Lelo. Every toy I have by them is a super high-end vibe and this little double ended dildo didn’t seem to quite fit in. I mean, don’t get me wrong, this is an amazing toy of the highest quality, but they seemed to be pretty focused on vibrators.

Fortunately for the masses, they have branched out a bit because this pleasure object is really great. It’s made out of super sweet silicone and Lelo definitely had a woman’s body in mind when the designed it’s perfect g-spot curve. For those of you who are interested, the other end is more of a standard straight dildo that feels really great also and is really nice for teasing or thrusting!

Like all of my other Lelo toys, the Ella comes in a really nice black box that is perfect for storage. If you’re running out of storage space like me, they’ve also provided a white satin bag as an alternative. Also included are information on the one-year warranty (!) and an instruction manual that warns against silicone lube and offers maintenance information.

The brilliant minds at Lelo suggest you use this dildo with a vibe, and while I would have thought of it eventually, I made sure I had one of my favorite vibes right next to me when I took this one for a test ride. Let me tell you, this baby finds it’s way right to your g-spot without any effort and the silicone transfers vibration really well. After a couple of test runs – solo and with the girl – I am really digging this toy.

However, for the record, this toy is not your traditional double-ended dong. When I read that, I assumed it would be enough for two people to use at the same time. It’s not. In fact, at just seven inches long with a 1 ¼ inch diameter, it’s pretty small.

Knowing that, if you are a fan of toys that have a little more girth, this is probably not the toy for you. I personally think it’s so well designed that size doesn’t matter much, but it’s something you should definitely be aware of. One nice thing for me about the shape and size is that the g-spot end makes for a nice handle and it’s a nice toy for anal play. Just be wary of your grip so it doesn’t get lost and you don’t end up spending a night in the ER! You should also make sure you sterilize it using the usual methods before using it vaginally again!

Overall, I’m really impressed with the Lelo Ella and will admit that it’s right at the top of my toy list with the Pure Wand. It doesn’t have the heft of my steel bff, but it is pretty amazing for g-spot stim.

Add Lelo’s Ella to your toy collection today!

Crystal Wand

I’m not going to start lying to you today. When I got this toy in the mail, I was a little less than excited. I’m a little spoiled when it comes to sex toys and Nectar Product’s Crystal Wand didn’t look very impressive to me. While the S shape was intriguing, it’s made from Lucite which doesn’t look nearly as cool as glass or steel. Thankfully, I gave this one a shot because its design is actually pretty damn great.

Cynthia Taylor Lamborne, the designer of the crystal wand, apparently is on a mission to help women enjoy the pleasures of g-spot stimulation. It even comes with a handy little guide book that explains how to care for your wand and how to put it to use.

Let’s start off by talking about caring for this toy. This is my first Lucite wand and I really don’t know anything about the material other than it’s the impact resistant material used around hockey rinks. Nectar Product suggests soap and water, which is pretty standard, but also suggests an interesting alternative. Apparently, you can create a 100% natural antibacterial cleansing solution by adding 10 drops of grapefruit seed extract to one cup of water. Good to know! They also warn us against using alcohol based products on Lucite.

This is a great toy and perfect for anyone who’s new to g-spot stimulation. The s-shaped design of this 10 inch toy makes locating your g-spot simple and is also good for p-spot stim according to the guide. Not having a prostate, I can’t speak to that myself! Lucite is hard, like glass or steel, but much lighter, which I thought allowed me to have complete control over it. I did find that a little lube goes a long way and will definitely enhance your play. The best part is that you can use silicone or water-based lube – I’m a big fan of options!

I’ve used a lot of toys that claim to stimulate the g-spot over the years and have a few I think are absolutely amazing. Any woman who owns the Pure Wand will rave about it, but it’s hefty price tag is a bit of a deterrent, especially in today’s economy. That’s where I see the Crystal Wand fitting in. At only $55 (half of what you’ll pay for the Pure Wand) it’s a bargain and since Lucite will stop a hockey puck, I’m guessing this is a toy you can plan on having a very long time.

If you’re interested in exploring g-spot stimulation, this is a quality toy that will help you find your way. It’s great for first timers and, when combined with a clit vibe, great for one hell of a ride!

Add this wonderful wand to your toy box!

Tristan Taormino’s Expert Guide To The G Spot

Watch the Video

Studio: Vivid Ed Category: 2009 AVN Award Nominees

Tristan Taormino may be known for her expert knowledge in anal sex, but this rad lady’s sexpertise goes above and beyond the bottom. Focusing in on the great mystery that is the G-Spot, Taormino really gets into the nitty gritty about how this fabulous urethral sponge functions and exactly how to take advantage of the amazing pleasure that the G-spot possesses when stimulated just right.

As in all “Tristan Taormino’s Expert Guide To” movies, this movie begins with an introduction and a quick anatomy lesson. This may be boring in other instructional flicks, but Taormino always keeps it fun and engaging as she makes sure you know the basics before moving on to the techniques and more advanced skills. While I enjoy learning all the intro stuff, it’s the demonstrations that really do it for me. I’m a visual person when it comes to understanding information, and having someone explain a position while someone else is actually doing it on the screen definitely helps me figure out exactly what I need to know. Plus the demos are always super hot. And this video does not disappoint.

My favorite demo was scene four’s female ejaculation with Kylie and Derrick. I love that Taormino dedicated an entire section to focusing on female ejaculation, which is definitely tied to G-Spot stimulation, but sometimes overlooked when talking about the G-spot. Kylie and Derrick did a great job explaining their experiences with squirting before even taking off their clothes, and once they let the clothes fly, I was glued to the scene – from first lick to final gushing squirt. While this was my favorite scene, the entire guide is thorough, detailed, interesting and super sexy – and totally worthy of it’s 2009 AVN Award nomination for Best Educational Release.
