A bunch of weeks back, I was watching the premiere of Conan O’ Brien taking over The Tonight Show, when all of a sudden Conan was hanging out in the middle of the Vivid Entertainment Group’s offices. What the hell? Apparently Conan was just paying a visit to his new neighbors, who reside right across the street from his Tonight Show set.
Yep, Vivid was on The Tonight Show. That is how big the porno emipre of Vivid really is - they’ve become a household name… a sexy, sexy household name, like Hitachi Magic Wand, or Debbie Does Dallas. And with more than 2000 movies and a slew of super hot contract girls under their belt, as well as changing the face of porn and adult marketing since 1984,Vivid is turing 25!

Not many people can shine on both sides of the video camera. It takes a certain breed to feel equally comfortable in the action as well as calling the shots. Kimberly Kane does both with a style and grace that capture the commercial successes of mainstream porn and the artful exploration of the alternative realm.
Not only is Kane a total pleasure to watch in whatever position she is in – be it rocking a dance off with Joanna Angel or fakin’ a love of tofu in First Dates (and you pervs thought I meant doggy style), she shines through as the person to watch no matter how many people are in the frame. As a director, she is bold and engaging and makes the kind of stuff I’d watch even if people kept their clothes on. Fun and up for anything that makes porn more that just the old in and out, Kimberly Kane isn’t afraid to bring it, and that’s just what she does.
1. How (and when) did you get started in the industry?
I got into the business in late 2003, two months before my 20th birthday. I tagged along to a set with a friend unsure of what to expect and it was a very good “free spirited” experience.
2. If you weren’t in the adult industry, what would you be doing?
I hope that I would have discovered art, photography and sexuality outside of the adult business as well.

Happy Humday to all you people trying to get over the mid-week slump. It’s been pretty busy for the porno industry this week, what with the AVN Awards and Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) descending upon Las Vegas over the last weekend. Blogs and news sites have been updating all the good stuff that’s been going on down in Sin City and what new kinds of sexy fun we can expect to be having in 2009.

Campy, adorable, and cast with some of the hottest talent in the alt-porn genre. Neu Wave Hookers is set in a colorful soft-lit world with a superhip soundtrack. James Deen with Riley Mason on a playground swingset; how amazing is that? And the intro to Sierra Sinn’s double penetration scene with James Deen and Tommy Pistol masturbating on someone’s mom to the song ”Dig It”, is hysterical, matched by the hotness of the actual scene. Dana DeArmond plays Traci Lords in the re-enactment of the casting of the original “New Wave Hookers”. In another scene, Kurt Lockwood picks Riley Mason up, and turns her upside down to 69 while another girl blows him. Sexual acrobatics are kinda really awesome. Especially when they lead to Kurt taking a finger or two up the butt, and liking it. The final scene kicks off with a singalong about the joys of vibrators, and turns into an all girl orgy. An all girl orgy I wish I was in the middle of. To console myself, I think I’ll sing “Orgazmitron” on the way home from work. It’s really a shame we can’t contrast Neu Wave Hookers with New Wave Hookers, as all copies of the original were destroyed, but Eon does a great job both giving us some background on the original movie and of presenting a window into the world of oversexed neu wave club kids. The action is hot *and* inventive enough to satisfy a veteran porno viewer, but is still first-timer-friendly.
