While I usually try to watch a different type of porn each time I review, somehow I have yet to check out any of our Grindhouse movies. While these racy exploitation movies of the ‘70s may not be super risqué by today’s standards, Grindhouse classics bring the sexual energy of the era back to the silver screen and show us just how thrilling these types of flicks were back then. And yes, these movies may be a little dated (they even bust out the original porno mustache), they are still totally sexy and most definitely deserve a watch.
I was pretty excited when I found this particular video. Not only do I love me a cheerleader flick – what can I say, short skirts and sweaters – swoon… I’m only human, I also noticed that the cast includes legendary porn for women director Candida Royalle (billed as Canidida Royale), back before she started directing. As soon as I saw her name, I knew I had to check this one out. Funny enough, I was just emailing back and forth with her last week about the site, so it really is fitting that I would find this movie right now.
From the first minute Candida starts dancing at the cheerleading auditions, as number 69, of course, I was sold – hook, line and sinker. Also, I need to take a minute just point out this awesome detail. The cheerleaders are called the “Prickettes” – as in cheerleaders for the Cactus football team. How ah-mazing is that?! Anyway, back to the sexing’.
While the Cactus players and the Prickettes are forbidden from touching each other – or, as they say in the movie, pussy is bad for you, like booze and cigarettes, these raunchy gals just can’t stay away. And though there was lots and lots of hot jock/cheerleader fucking (even on a toilet!), my favorite scene was scene 5 with Cheerleader #69 (also called Tamara) and the Prickettes’ lesbo head coach.
Number 69 is so lucky that she has such a thoughtful coach that is so ready to help her learn all about the football equipment. Oh, coach, how do these jock straps work? Well, I know I, for one, learn best with visuals, and I guess 69 does too, because coach happily puts the jock strap on to show her. Along with another treat… I don’t know what my favorite part of this scene is, Tamara’s see-thru outfit, or the coach whipping out a strap-on cock to fill her jock strap… and her star cheerleader. I’m really happy that they used the locker room bench as the perfect surface to leave over for optimum doggy style fucking. That coach really knows her plays! This is the first time I’ve ever seen Candida on the screen like this and while it’s always a totally different experience to watch someone you know (even if it is thirty-some years ago), it was awesome none-the-less.

I love porn. Duh, right? Of course I love watching hot sex on screen, but when it comes to porn, sometimes there’s so much more to love than just what’s on the surface. One of my favorite things about porn is the people that make it – whether they are starring in the movies or behind the camera. And while sure, I’d love to see any of these five amazing porn folks naked and squirming in pleasure, I’d also actually love to hang out with them too. They all seem like so much fun!
So, here, in no particular order, are my top 5 porn people I want meet up with for drinks and hang outs.
(I will have to put a little disclaimer that these are people I’ve never actually met. There are a few other people I would have added that I have already hung out with and are amazing, but that didn’t seem fair to include them. And Nina Hartley was a given, so I figured I’d assume everyone already knows she tops the list.)

Every once and a while someone tries to pull the whole “women don’t watch porn” shtick with me. After shaking my head in amazement at their naiveté, I politely tell them that a) they are wrong and b) plenty of women not only watch porno, there are more and more women creating and directing adult movies every day. Since the real start of women behind the porno camera with Candida Royalle in the ‘80s, women have been taking the reins in creating hot material that is specifically made and marketed for women. While it’s impossible for us to say women want an exact kind of porn (it turns out that different women like all different types of porn – go figure!), we do know that each of our top five female porn directors hit the nail on the head when it comes to getting us gals hot and bothered!

I’m a sucker for a good love story. Always have been, always will be. But in most movies, you get the cut away when the scene should just be starting up. WTF!? Lucky for me, there is Candida Royalle. At a time when men dominated the porn industry (oh wait a sec… yep, still happening), Candida created Femme Productions, a studio with a mission to create hot erotic movies that appeal to women. So instead of getting a raunchy fuck flick (though, I like those sometimes too), you get an artfully directed erotic story with a plot that actually pulls you in and when things start to heat up, you get the real deal! Amen!
This movie is awesome. It’s the story of a family all back together living in the same house after their two oldest daughters move away. Watching her sisters get busy with their respective men, the youngest (at the fresh-faced, yet legal, age of 18) gets her sex education in perfect time for meeting a man of her own. Not that the man really mattered, as young Heather also gets to know her own body with a little self exploration and the help of an eager girlfriend. And even though the movie focuses on her budding sexuality, I love that everyone gets laid, even the parents!
All in all, this movie is totally worth watching. Not only do you get plenty of sensual scenes with lots of really sexy action, you get an actually decent, watch-worthy plot! With good acting! A rarity, I know. Sure it’s a little dated, but does high quality erotica really ever go out of style? Both thumbs up for Three Daughters!

 I decided to take a step back in time and check out one of Candida Royalle’s older films, and it was worth the trip in the time machine. While the outfits may be a bit outdated (and holy giant cell phone, Batman!), there is a distinct lack of old school “porn star hair.” There is an over abundance of acting, dialogue and plot; Not a pretense of a plot, but an actual plot with character development and suspense. There is a reason that this one is in the Feature category. This isn’t to say that the sex got lost in the plot. It didn’t. With well-known, hot to trot stars like Sharon Mitchell, Herschel Savage, and Chloe featured, this flick couldn’t contain bad sex even if they try their hardest. This one is like a day dream come to life on the screen, with a mystery man in the mansion on the hill, a beautiful heroine looking for direction in her life, and enough steamy sex to keep you going for a while. Add the fact that Femme Productions is known for producing feminist, ethical porn, and you’ve got a winner in my book. Plot? Check. Hot sex? Check. Feeling good about watching sex? Check. This film has it all!

The Superbe is a toy made by Candida Royalle’s sex toy line Natural Contours, and you can tell this toy is made by a woman, for women. In addition to being a pleasing color (read: NOT bright pink!) and a non-phallic shape, the Superbe is quiet, easy to use, 3-speed AND comes in a nice little black box that is reuseable for storage purposes. All in all, it’s a fantabulous starter toy for any woman, and a great toy for people that aren’t HUGE sensation junkies (it wasn’t quite strong enough for my liking, although I certainly was able to get off with it). I felt that the Superbe’s only real short coming was being made of plastic, which is not exactly a warm and friendly material to be cuddling up to your vulva. However, the cuteness (and non-pink) factor, along with the ease of use and storage (and ability to take it anywhere) bumps this toy up to my top 10 list. Ladies (and gents who like vibes), step on up and give the Superbe a try!

Candida Royalle is one of my favorite directors (she’s fun, feminist and super sex-positive), and she didn’t let me down with this film. Sexy and empowered women have all kinds of mind blowing sex, some in couples, one by herself in the backroom of Babeland (yes, that amazing store makes a cameo on the movie), and a few in a delicious group sex scene at the end. Fabulous! For those who like a bit of a plot thrown in, never fear, this film has that covered as well. A sex therapist and a new reporter are on a quest for information about different types of sexualities, and they tie all the steamy sex scenes together (although sadly, only one star gets tied up, but I suppose beggars can’t be choosers). So to recap; a real plot, a fabulously sex-positive feminist director, gorgeous women, a plethora of sex toys, and outstanding orgasms? Check. This movie should be on everyone’s must see list!
