Here comes Trouble… with a digital video camera in tow. Courtney Trouble that is, queer porn director and star extraordinaire. The San Francisco-based Trouble has been making a name for herself since 2002, with the creation of her baby NoFauxxx.com (now the oldest running queer porn site on the web) and in more recent years as she has taken the reins on a bunch of avant-garde feminist porno flicks.
When she’s not accepting awards and accolades (including SF Guardian’s 2009 Best of the Bay Queer Porn and a Feminist Porn Award for “Most Deliciously Diverse Cast”), Trouble is behind the camera, giving direction to some of the hottest stars to grace the porno screen, including Jiz Lee, Syd Blakovich and April Flores, to name a few. Her first movie, Roulette, has just hit HotMovies4Her and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this fabulously fierce femme queer pornographer and the super hot fruits of her labor.
1. How (and when) did you get started in the industry?
I’m not exactly sure when my involvement with making feminist, queer imagery became an involvement in the adult industry, because at first it was an art project focusing on expressing “real” desires to equalize my experiences as a full-time fantasy-based (aka not-real) phone sex operator. I can’t pinpoint a decisive moment when I realized that No Fauxxx was a breathing entity in the porn industry. Except maybe right now, with my first film being released world-wide on a mainstream (and yet, extremely sex-positive!) level with Good Releasing, and is being reviewed and promoted by people like Fleshbot, Hot Movies For Her, and even AVN. Since the release of Roulette in July, I have been very busy creating my second, third, forth, and fifth films for Good Releasing (Nostalgia out now, Speakeasy out now, Seven Minutes In Heaven out October, Roulette: Dirthy South out November).
2. If you weren’t in the adult industry, what would you be doing?
I was 18 when I started doing phone sex, working from home. I taught myself web design and digital photo editing and printing in my down time during my 4-5 years. I went to school for photography, I actually have two degrees. I think if I weren’t lucky enough to be surviving (meagerly) off my art, I would still be doing something with photography or web design more commercially.

This time I was craving a movie I could get lost in, and so I picked up the rather long “Cry Wolf.” With over a 2 hour run time, and more AVN nominations and awards than I can shake a stick at, I figured I’d be in for one hell of an engrossing movie.
Five minutes into the film and I can already tell I’m in for a major treat. The word that comes to mind first is, tasteful, really actually tasteful. I’ll admit that within the first few minutes the male lead has his tongue buried in Monique Alexander’s crotch, but the set, costuming and even the dialogue doesn’t scream wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am. One gets the feeling that you’re watching a particularly raunchy mainstream thriller, complete with sultry seductive femme fatale. That’s high praise coming from me since the lead, Monique Alexander, is the typical porn blond, but with natural breasts and the ability to recite her lines with conviction – so ok, maybe she’s not so typical after all.

Over the weekend Erotica LA hosted the 4th Annual F.A.M.E. Awards (Fans of Adult Media & Entertainment) – the only porn awards show where the fans decide who wins. Pretty cool, huh? The fans not only get to pick the winners for each category, they actually get to nominate performers as well. Totally interactive and 100% fan faves, from favorite Anal Star to Dirtiest Girl in Porn! Even I voted… though I’m keeping tight lipped about who I picked (I will say that my favie director won, hand down! See, everyone loves her has much as we do!)

The 2008 eLINE Awards were announced last week in Berlin and I wanted to give a shout out a few winners.
Petra Joy, the amazing woman behind Stawberry Seductress, was given the Award for Pioneering Achievements in Adult Films for Women. I’m glad to see that the industry think she’s as fantastic as we do!

My favorite solo sex flick of the year, Barcelona Sex Project, was also highlighted when Erika Lust took home the award for Best Documentary. I can’t say enough good things about this fascinating look into the lives of the six sexy subjects!
It’s nice to see some of our favorite director’s getting much deserved recognition at one of the biggest shows in Europe.

I’m pretty sure I’m never going to get sick of watching Rascal movies. Lights & Darks (despite the bad title) is a totally hot GAYVN winner that is a must-see for fans of the hot man sex. I loved that this isn’t your typical interracial film. It seems like a lot of interracial flicks star gay for pay tops that have little interest in anything besides a paycheck. In this Rascal movie, you’ll see men of all races who definitely love dick. I thought that the first scene was the best, but honestly enjoyed all four. In the opening scene, Jake Samms and Tommy Ritter explode on screen. Samms has an amazing body and Ritter surely enjoys every inch of it! Samms holds nothing back as he pounds Ritter’s hungry hole – it’s a frenzied fuck that you really don’t want to miss! Also worth noting is Jason Tiya’s performance in scene two – just because I think he’s super hot. Another great thing about this one is that while it is an interracial film, it’s not based in stereotypes. Well, besides Brandon Lee being cast as the Laundromat owner, but that’s just funny. Anyways, it’s basically about hot dudes fucking – and I’m not going to complain about that!

 The Matrix meets Law & Order, with more double penetration, pussy pounding and cum dripping sex than you can shake an underground sim chip at. It’s really no wonder this futuristic cyber-cop thrill porn epic swept the 2008 AVN Awards, with major wins such as Best Actress, Best Special Effects and Best Feature Video, to name only a few. While hunting down a super virus that could corrupt and destroy the future, Special Agents Cray and Born – the incredibly hot Eva Angelina and Derrick Pierce, respectively – get their hands on Tesla (our girl Hillary Hot…err, I mean Scott), a bratty bottom of a cyber-whore who might just hold the key to saving it all. Sure, I had to do a little rewinding to keep up with the plot a few times, but the surprisingly good acting (both fucking and speaking) along with the super varied sex scenes (jerking off in a bathroom stall, sensually touching in a decadent bed, licking pussy in the desert… you get the picture) kept me totally enthralled and begging for more the entire 4 hours. And I won’t get too carried away, but for a non-Hollywood big budget flick, the special effects and sci-fi details were pretty damn impressive.

The latest release in Girlfriends Films’ signature lesbian series, Women Seeking Women 30 follows the same formula that has won over both fans and critics alike. You’ll see beautiful women doing crazy things. And I’m not talking about a girl shoving a rubber chicken up her cooch (thanks for that Gia Paloma), I’m refering to things that you don’t find in your typical porno, like kissing, caressing, and genuine female orgasms! Insane! Every scene is pretty good, but my favorite is the third because it features something I haven’t seen much in films from this studio, strap-on play. The women are a little bit older than your typical porn star, but still totally hot. I love that their bodies move like a real women’s does; their asses, thighs and bellies all jiggle as they moved together. Turns out real women don’t look perfect when they’re fucking…who knew?

Each of the Fashionistas movies has been highly praised by the industry and Fashioinstas Safado – Berlin is no different, garnering fourteen nominations this year. In the final episode of this groundbreaking series fashion designer Antonio, played by the uber-handsome Rocco Siffredi, goes to Berlin in search of inspiration and sexual adventure. What follows is a series of visually stunning scenes that explore the fine line between sexual pleasure and degradation. I really enjoy these movies and the latest is no exception. They are a little more hardcore at times than I typically find myself drawn to, but there’s no doubt that Berlin is a fantastic fuck flick. Every thing in this movie is considered carefully, from the scenery to the amazing fetish outfits. Because of this, you’ll find yourself paying attention to things you normally don’t even consider when watching porn. There’s also an amazing cast including Belladonna and Katsuni, two of my favorite big booty girls. I’d actually recommend watching the whole series, it’s pretty groundbreaking.

Typically, I wouldn’t have much interest in a porn movie with director’s commentary. I mean, how much can we really learn about what happened that day that’s of interest. However, when I saw that Babylon Pink had been re-released with commentary from visionary Cecil Howard, I had to check it out. For those of you who aren’t drowning in information about pornography, Babylon Pink is often argued as being the one of the best Erotic films of all time. Director Cecil Howard is a member of the AVN Hall of Fame and one of the most respected directors in the industry. While I could continue to list the numerous awards this movie has been showered with, I won’t because that’s not what’s important. What’s important is that every aspect of this film is of high quality. The list of stars (including Vanessa Del Rio!!) is off the chart, the story is both interesting and plausible, and most importantly, the sex is fun and sexy as hell. Oh, and just so you know, if you’re not a nerd like me and you’re just looking for good porn without all of the talking, you can watch the original Babylon Pink here.
