anal sex toy

I have to admit that before the Liberace came into my hands, I firmly placed myself in the ‘virginal but curious’ category of anal play. I’d experimented, licked, fingered, tingled and played, but not really explored the depths of my back hole very far. So this nubby little silicone toy was a whole new territory for me.
To be really, really, honest – I think I enjoyed the toy’s silicone makeup more than the play sessions themselves. It’s the first pure silicone toy in my personal collection and I’ve heard all kinds of awesome stuff about silicone’s magical cleaning abilities, so first thing I did was take it home, boil a big pot of water and drop it in (followed shortly by me walking away from the stove, forgetting about it and nearly burning a hole in my pot, but that’s another story for another day). Not only did my brand new Liberace magically resist turning into a puddle of useless goo and ruining my pan in the process, but it got nice and warm (hot, hot, hot – then warm when it cooled a bit), which was certainly a big bonus and step above my other (colder) toys.

After reading this handy dandy little article on the Frisky, I decided it was time for a little HM4H public service announcement: Please don’t stick hammerheads up your butt.
Actually, there are a lot of items you shouldn’t be sticking where the sun doesn’t shine (in spite of the popularity of the expression.) Cups and broom handles are pretty popular on the Rectal Foreign Bodies list, but bottles are the most common foreign body removed – from the body. So please remember, be safe and chose a quality toy designed to not get stuck up there, like the Ophoria Rapture or a nice Rook E Glass Crystal Butt Plug (a toy with a flared base.) Even with a toy designed for anal play always remember to be safe, consensual and careful.

I was super surprised when I got the Ophoria Rapture #5 anal probe in the mail. The Shunga Massage Candle I had requested was on back order, so Eden Fantasys decided to send me off a big butt plug instead. Once I got over my disappointment about not being able to sucker a massage out of my girlfriend (in the name of “working from home,” of course), I quickly warmed up to the idea that I had a fancy new silicone butt toy to play with! What’s better than a massage? Fucking, that’s what!
The Ophoria Rapture #5 is a pretty big hunk o’ silicone. At 7” long (5 ¾” insertable) and 1 ½” at the thickest point, this hefty anal probe is not for the butt play first timer. The Rapture #5 is made of five gradually increasing bulbs that are one on top another, with a nice big loop handle at the end. The velvety bulbs go from smallish to big fairly fast and unlike other probes and anal beads I’ve tried, the Rapture #5 doesn’t have much of as indented space between the bulbs. Earlier this month I ran a workshop on anal play for a local toy shop. Since the class turned out so great and people had so many great questions, I decided to share my handout with our HM4Her readers to make sure that you guys are getting the best of the best when it comes to sex education. There was so much info that I had to break it into two parts (check out Intro to Anal Play, Part 1)! What what in the butt, let’s get to it!
In the first section I covered all the basics of why people have anal sex, the fears surrounding anal play, the expectations involved with anal sex and all of the basic anatomy of the butt. Now we get to talk about safety, prep, techniques and toys – all the super sexy good stuff!
Safety Basics
- Anal sex should not hurt. If it hurts, you are doing something wrong.
- Lube, Lube Lube, Lube, Lube! When it comes to butts, you can never use enough lube! Your ass does not self lubricate (like a vagina) so lube is super, extra important. For anal sex, thicker lubes are great. Your best bet is either silicone or water-based lube (as oil-based lubes can weaken condoms, if you are using them), but remember that you cannot use silicone lube with silicone toys. Also remember to add more lube frequently. If you think you’re using too much lube, add some more. Read the rest of this entry »

Putting glass up your ass is generally considered a no-no. Aside from being extremely dangerous and harmful to all your delicate tissues, I can imagine it would hurt like a bitch. But think about all the benefits of glass… it can be so silky smooth, take temperature change like a champ and be really heavy when you want it to be. Sigh, that sounds so fun. Good thing some scientist somewhere decided to make a fracture-resistant glass that later allowed an awesome pervert to fashion it into the ultimate glass butt plug!
That’s the Rook E Glass Crystal Butt Plug for you! Science’s gift to the anal connoisseur. What sets this plug apart from others is definitely its material. While I love, love, love silicone toys, glass provides a few extra benefits that silicone just can’t offer. First off, glass is super smooth and only takes the smallest drop of lube to get it nice and slippery (though I suggest using more than just a drop when you are hitting the back door), and it offers little to no friction resistance as it slides into your body. Glass also takes temperature change extremely well and the Rook E can be cooled down and chilly or heated up to a perfect body temperature using warm and ice cold water. So easy. Also, with silicone toys you get a little give, which the Rook E does not allow. The solid glass keeps rigid and feels more filling than a silicone plug of the exact same size. And speaking of size…
Two of my favorite aspects of this big guy are its weight and size. Measuring in at 4½ inches long and 1½ inches at its widest point, I might not say the Rook E is for rookies exactly, but if you are an experienced anal adventurer, this plug should work out just fine. Plus it starts out small and gets bigger, so it’s a fun toy to test out girth with. While I’m not quite sure how much it weighs (I’d guess about the same as a lighter paperweight?), this glass crystal toy is no feather. The weight is what makes it so fun. Though it’s not usually easy to forget you have something in your ass, with this toy you will most definitely know it’s back there at all times. Heavy, big and rigid – the perfect plug trifecta. Hold on a sec while I fan myself…

I also really like that Rook E is clear glass. Not everybody wants to be able to see a bit into someone’s open butthole, but I like the idea that the option is there. Hey, I write for a porn company – I’m a known pervert and sex educator, and I’m not ashamed to want to get a better look into a bottom! You shouldn’t be either. Butts are the best and should be enjoyed just like every other part of the body!
When it comes to butt plugs, the Rook E is a great flared based toy that stays where it’s put, fills you up and will last a lifetime. Two thumbs up for my new best butty!

Back before I started reviewing sex toys, I would have never imaged that I’d have so many things in my house specifically designed to go up my butt. That being said, no matter how many toys (and fingers) have been up my butt, I pretty much still consider myself a beginner when it comes to the back door. Well, maybe not a beginner beginner, but definitely not an old pro or anything.
Being beginner-ish with the butt, I really like toys that are graduated and let me work my way from small to big at my own pace instead of just starting out with a big toy. When it comes to the butt, it’s really important to feel comfortable with the size and shape of the toy you are about to use. Seriously, your ass can tell when you are nervous about a toy – your sphincter will tighten and it will be harder, and way less pleasurable, to get your toy in. For me, the Ripple was the perfect toy to get me comfortable and super hot without intimidating me at all.
This wonderful 5’ silicone probe by Tantus starts off small, about the size of the tip of your pinky, and ends at the base around the size of a large thumb. It bows in and out and gets a little bit bigger with each ripple (hence the name). As it goes in, the Ripple warms to body temperature and gives a natural pulse that sends surges of pleasure through your body. It’s just flexible enough to give you room to move around and try different positions, but stiff enough to provide easy thrusting action. Plus, the Ripple has a nice wide, flared base, which is a must when you’re putting a toy in your butt. Toy up butt is hot, toy lost in butt is not.
A major bonus of the Ripple is that it is 100% silicone – which means it’s phthalate free, non-porous and super easy to clean. Silicone can be cleaned with soap and warm water, or sterilized by boiling (3-5 mins), using a 10% bleach solution or tossing in the dish washer (top shelf, no soap). And silicone means it will last for a long, long time, as long as you take care of it, and never use silicone lube with it.
After a few sessions, I found this toy to be a perfect tool in the bag for a fun filled evening. I love that I can just play with this smaller probe, or use it to get my ass ready to handle something a little bigger. No matter what though, I know I’ll be reaching for the Ripple when I’m looking to add a few extra moans and groans to my night.
Add you own moans and groans with the Ripple

I would say that I am a pretty sexually adventurous person. I like to try new things. Even if I’m not sure what the outcome will be, I’m usually pretty game to at least give it one wholehearted go. So when I was asked to pick out a sex toy to review from an entire website of products, I jumped at the chance to try something totally different than anything I already had. And seeing as I am a sex toy reviewer, I have a ton of toys – from a 24 ounce steel barbell to a trio of finger vibes plugged into a battery operated power pack strapped to your wrist. Let’s just say my cup runneth over. But one thing I was really lacking was butt specific toys. Deciding that’s where I wanted to fill my gap, so to speak, I flipped to the anal toy page and picked the first interesting thing I found – 100% silicone anal beads. Two weeks later Flexi Felix landed on my desk.
