The NCAA tournament begins today and I am really looking forward to plenty of great games and upsets. While this may not seem like the most appropriate place to write about sports, studies have shown that young girls who participate in athletics have lower rates of pregnancy and substance abuse than those who don’t. Plus there’s no denying that participating helps to build self-esteem, leadership skills and to educate about the importance of taking care of your body! If something is good for women and their daughters, I think it’s a great topic for this blog.

Of course, the men’s tourney kicks off today and I’ll be watching as soon as I finish work, but I’m also looking forward to the women’s games which start on Saturday. Because of Title IX, my generation has been afforded opportunities our mothers were not and because of this the women’s tournament has become really competitive and fun to watch. As a former player and coach, I know how much time and hard work they put in at the gym and love to watch when it finally pays off with a chance to win it all!
Of course, I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t make an effort to tie in pornography, so here’s a hot basketball themed movie to help get you ready for tip-off at 12:20.
